What is the difference in pump modes?2023-03-06T19:55:06-04:00

Massage Mode has a higher cycle setting and lower vacuum level to initiate milk let down. You can not adjust cycles in Massage Mode. Expression Mode has slower cycles and a higher vacuum setting to express milk efficiently.

What is the difference between the Motif Luna and the Motif Luna with Battery?2023-02-27T17:34:05-04:00

What is a closed vs. open system?2023-03-06T14:52:50-04:00

A closed-system breast pump collects milk in a safe, protected space that is free from outside contamination. By using closed gateways, it keeps the tubing that leads to the motor bacteria and mold-free. This keeps you and your baby safe, despite occasional and inevitable tipping that may occur. All Motif Breast Pumps are closed systems.

What does my warranty cover?2023-03-06T13:12:28-04:00

All Motif Breast Pumps come with a Two-Year Limited Manufacturer’s Warranty on Breast Pump Motor, 1-Year on Internal Battery (when applicable) and 90-days on breast pump parts. See full warranty details in your product manual. The warranty does not cover failure to comply with the operating instructions of the device or components supplied with the product, normal wear and tear. Theft or misplacement of breast pump or supplies is not covered under the warranty.

Hospital grade breast pumps are multi-user pumps used in a hospital setting that are not necessary for every mother. Hospital grade breast pumps also require a specific prescription from your healthcare provider. Motif Breast Pumps offer the suction, strength, and closed system functionality that mimic a hospital grade system but are made for just one user.

Is the Motif Luna hospital grade?2023-02-27T17:35:15-04:00

The term “hospital grade” refers to a pump that is meant to be used by multiple users. We warranty our pumps for just one user, so we do not consider our pump hospital grade, however, the Luna is hospital strength. The pump has the highest suction level currently available on the market and features backflow protection, as any hospital-grade pump would.

Is the Luna an open or closed system?2023-02-27T17:35:34-04:00

The Luna is a closed system pump, which means when used properly, there is no backflow of breastmilk into the tubing and pump. This prevents mold from growing in the pump and tubing.

How often should the tubing be replaced?2023-03-06T22:57:55-04:00

The tubing and connectors should be replaced every 3 months to maintain proper hygiene.

How do I pump?2023-03-06T17:53:07-04:00

We recommend finding a comfortable, quiet spot in your home first. Relaxing environments will encourage natural letdown. If you’re having trouble with letdown, a quick breast massage, warm compress, or leaning over and gently shaking the breasts will encourage flow.

If you have your baby near you, try getting close to them and cuddling. If you’re not near them, look at a photo of your baby, listen to a recording of their cry, or imagine their face and smell in a state of mindfulness.

When using an electric pump, use the lowest suction setting at first and then increase it when things are moving and you feel comfortable. Breathe deeply while you wait. This can take minutes for some and days for others.

When everything is going well, pump until your milk slows down and your breasts feel empty. Make sure you clean your breast flanges in between uses. If you experience issues while pumping, we recommend contacting your Lactation Consultant.
